A yellow tiger couple last Wednesday gave birth to three cubs, one of whom is white, according to Nguyen Si Quyet at the Trai Bo ecotourism site in Dien Chau district, the central province of Nghe An.

“As we have taken care of the mother tiger since she got pregnant, we could predict the date she would give birth and took her to a special area, a 12 square-meter cage,” he said.

A strange thing is that besides the two yellow cubs who look like their parents, there is an odd one out that is white, which Quyet found to be a very strange phenomenon.

The cause is probably due to genetic mutation.

Also according to Quyet, the tiger mother took a yellow cub outside the special area and did not come back.

Last Thursday, Tuoi Tre reporters observed the 160kg tiger father walking around the cage as the tiger mother sat on a stone table. The two cubs, one yellow and one white, had yet to open their eyes and lay in a separate corner.

“Probably the cubs are finding their mother. I wonder why the tiger mother did not breastfeed them. I brought some milk but have yet to find a way to make them drink,” said Loan, a staffer who took care of this tiger family.
